Chicago!
One time Mak and I went to a Luke Hemmings concert at Aragon Ballroom, because Neara, who produced Mak’s record, was playing keys.
(Luke Hemmings being one of the four members of the band 5 Seconds of Summer. Feels wrong that there are four members of a band called 5 Seconds of Summer. There should be five, no? Does Maroon 5 have five members?
Just googled it. Maroon 5 has SIX MEMBERS. What the hell. Maroon 5 should loan one of its members to 5 Seconds of Summer so that both bands can have five members.)
anyway, it was a stupid and awesome show, and almost the entire crowd was between the ages of 15 and 17 and female. And Luke Hemmings played banger after banger after banger, but the best part was that probably six or seven times between songs he’d just lean into the mic and go “Chicago!” and everyone would cheer. It just didn’t get old, I guess.
But Hi. I’m here because we just listed our T-shirts that we made, with hand-carved stamps of Cleo on the front and our beautiful faces on the back, on our Merch page. On 100% cotton tees, in white black and blue, in small medium and large. Heat-treated so as not to fade. If you’ve been to a show recently you’ve already had the chance to buy one of these, but if you either a) blew that chance or b) have not had the opportunity to come to a show and you want a sexy T-Shirt to make you look hot for the summer, here is your chance.
We also have a few shows coming up, and something for all different kinds of people:
Open Studio Project, the place Mak and I made the CDs, and also the place that I worked for two years, is an art therapy non-profit with a ton of programming for kids and also some for adults. They do great work. They have an annual fundraiser called ARTOPIA that by all accounts is just a big party, and this year we’re playing at it. It’s at SPACE in Evanston on Wednesday, April 30. So if you’re somebody who believes in art therapy for kids (should be every last one of you. assholes.) this is a good one. Tickets here.
A more classic Widemouth show at Gman Tavern (a bar/venue in Wrigley) is happening on May 9th, with support from Poster Girl. The cool thing about this show is that my birthday is a couple days before and Mak’s birthday is a few days after. So if you’re somebody who believes in celebrating your loved ones’ birthdays (…) this is a good one. Tickets here. Assholes.
This is not music and Mak’s gonna be mad at me but Mak, Lily and Charlotte have a trapeze show on May 10. Meaning we go and sit outside and watch them perform their trapeze tricks. Annnd what’s more, it’s Disney-themed. I will not spoil their costumes but it is a trio of Disney-affiliated characters. I don’t even know what to say to you if you don’t want to come to that.
Also we have a couple new songs emerging from their chrysalides and preparing to take flight, hopefully at these shows. Which is exciting.
See you all soon hopefully.
Chicago!
